Stacy Cataldo, Administrator CVMS

Welcome to Cedar Valley Montessori School (CVMS).
At CVMS, we are a true educational community, welcoming children from ages two to six.  Our aim is to help each child become the person that they are supposed to be by giving them the individualized tools, support and encouragement they need.

Our approach to education follows the best practices of Dr. Maria Montessori whose work emphasized the developmental needs, talents, gifts, and special individuality of each child.  It is a process that helps children learn in their own way, at their own pace.  Our teachers and staff observe each child to gain an understanding of their developmental needs and then provide the appropriate opportunities and tools for each child to learn and grow.  The teacher’s role is to guide every child through each phase of learning while promoting independence and the joy of learning.

As a parent, I know how easy it is to compare children and think that, ‘she should be doing this’ or ‘he should be like that’.  At CVMS, we encourage everyone involved in a child’s life to see that child for who they actually are as an individual, because the best way to help that child is to embrace and develop their own unique self.

People regularly ask me what makes CVMS different from other preschools.  The best way I can sum it up is that traditional schools have 21 kids and one lesson plan.  At CVMS we have 21 kids and 21 lesson plans.  That’s the difference.  Here, each child is treated as the unique individual that they are.

From our toddler program, where we work to start each child on the road to independence, to the third year of our three year preschool cycle where our goal is for each child to leave here prepared to successfully transition to the next phase of their education, we strive to give our students a solid sense of self and a love of learning that they can carry with them for the rest of their lives.

As a community, we truly value the partnership between the children’s families and the school.  We encourage you to come visit and meet our exceptional faculty and to see how our phenomenal facilities, materials and timeless teaching philosophy come together to make up the right educational start for your child.
